In Wiltshire, as elsewhere, we see drug and alcohol use ranging from mild problematic alcohol and recreational drug use to chronic life-changing dependency.
Turning Point currently has more than 800 registered clients within Wiltshire, but we know there are many more who could benefit from our services. We are committed to finding new ways to reach out to our communities.
Recently Police and Crime Commissioner Angus Macpherson joined us at the official opening of our Turning Point centre in Bythesea Road, Trowbridge (see photo left). We are working closely with the Bath-based charity Julian House to provide the best possible service to our clients.
Turning Point has been running services in Wiltshire and Swindon for five years and has recently launched a new service called IMPACT:
IMproving
Prevention
Accessibility
Collaboration and
Treatment
We offer end-to-end treatments, from the point of referral and assessment through to a range of groups to support individuals according to the particular substance and a range of prescribing options.
Treatment options are available in our three hubs (Trowbridge, Salisbury and Swindon) and a growing range of community venues.
We will also be offering a new digital treatment pathway where individuals can access treatment online through any internet-enabled device. Some people may choose just to have the online treatment, whilst others may use it alongside our other services.
Our new IMPACT wellbeing cloud will allow individuals and partner agencies to refer at any time as well as providing information about what's going on in the service.
Embedded within our wellbeing cloud there are "find out more" sessions offline helping people to learn more about drugs and alcohol.
As part of the service we also have an engagement and prevention team which specialises in older adults and hospital liaison, young people transitioning, veterans and military, criminal justice and housing support.
This team works across the county to engage individuals where required as well as providing outreach activities around prevention, education and awareness.
As part of our partnership work we are working with Nelson Trust to offer an enhanced women's service for the most complex and vulnerable women in the area.
We are also pleased to engage with new partners Dear Albert and Club Soda who will work in communities to promote recovery through organised events and courses.
