Launched in November 2025, the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) in Salisbury is a collaborative initiative between the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Salisbury BID, Wiltshire Police, and local authorities. This partnership is designed to support businesses in tackling crime, improving safety, and fostering a thriving local economy.
Once the Salisbury BCRP is established, the aim is to roll the initiative out to town centres across the county.
Retail crime and anti-social behaviour have a significant impact — not just on individual businesses, but on the wider community. From increased costs and staff stress to reduced footfall and customer confidence, the ripple effects are wide reaching. That’s why we’re prioritising retail crime and working together to reduce its impact.
By joining the Salisbury BCRP, businesses will benefit from:
While all types of business crime matter, we’re placing a particular emphasis on retail crime, recognising its disproportionate impact on Salisbury’s high street and local economy. From shop theft and fraud to aggressive behaviour and vandalism, we’re committed to reducing these threats and supporting those affected.
The ambition is for all Neighbourhood Policing Team areas to have their own BCRP with Salisbury being the first area due to the already well-established and engaged BID.
This isn’t just about crime prevention, it’s about building a safer, more resilient Salisbury for those who live, work and visit the city. When businesses feel supported and secure, the whole community benefits. Together, we can create a city centre that’s welcoming, vibrant, and safe for everyone.
Whether you’re a small independent shop or a large retailer, business participation matters. Join the Salisbury BCRP today and be part of a proactive, solutions-focused network working to protect and strengthen our business community.
Retail crime is not just a business issue, it’s a community issue. It affects livelihoods, safety, and the vibrancy of our town centres.
We need to hear directly from those affected so we can ensure the partnership is fit for purpose and addresses community concerns.
