I am regularly reminded of the dedication and courage shown by those who serve and protect our communities, but few moments are as inspiring hearing the stories of individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty – and recognising them for their exceptional service.
Wiltshire Police’s Force Awards Ceremony was an evening of deep pride, powerful stories, and well-deserved recognition – for police officers, staff, volunteers, and members of the public who have made a real difference in making Wiltshire safer.
From acts of bravery to years of committed service behind the scenes, every recipient had a great story to tell. Some of whom risked their lives to save others or provided comfort to victims at their lowest moments. Others gave countless hours as volunteers or used their voices to speak up and take action when it mattered most.
Too often, the work of policing is done out of the public eye. It can be demanding, unpredictable, and emotionally challenging. That’s why recognising our people – not only for their achievements, but for the values they embody – is so important.
Events like these are a vital reminder of why we do what we do. They also reflect the strength of partnership that underpins successful policing: a collaboration between police, local authorities, commissioned services and residents of Wiltshire.
We will continue to face challenges as we continue to work to keep Wiltshire a safe place to live, work and visit. However, knowing we have people of such dedication and integrity within our force – and within our communities – gives me confidence for the future.
I want to extend my congratulations to every award recipient. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
