Statement from Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson on National Police Memorial Day

Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson has paid tribute to police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, marking National Police Memorial Day and honouring their courage, dedication and sacrifice in service of their communities. 

He said: "National Police Memorial Day is a time for reflection, remembrance and gratitude as we honour those brave police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

"Today, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting their communities. Their courage, commitment and selflessness will never be forgotten, and we owe a profound debt of thanks to them and their families.

"Policing is a profession built on public service, with officers stepping forward every day to face challenges and risks that most of us will never experience. National Police Memorial Day reminds us that behind every uniform is a person who has dedicated their life to keeping others safe.

"As Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, I am proud of the dedication shown by our officers, staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to protect our communities. Today, we stand alongside police forces across the country to remember colleagues who have paid the highest price in service to the public.

"My thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of those who have lost their lives. We remember them with pride, honour their service with gratitude, and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten."
