"I would like to state publicly that I thank Mike Veale tremendously for his unwavering commitment and dedication to this Force over the last 13 years.
"Since 2015, he has been an excellent Chief Constable and has guided Wiltshire Police through immense change to a position where it is amongst the top performing forces in the country, with consistent grading's of good through inspections by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary.
"I know this has not been an easy decision for Mike to make, but that on a personal level he feels it is the right time for him and his family to make the next move in his policing career.
"I will be working with the senior team over the coming days to ensure that we provide stability and consistency moving forwards for the public of Wiltshire and the officers and staff who work for the Force.
"The date that Chief Constable Veale will be leaving is still subject to discussion at this stage."
