In response, Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, Angus Macpherson said:
“I am always in favour of any review which will help improve and strengthen the position of the PCC and office – ensuring that the large amount of good work we do for victims of crime continues.
“This review may also embed some of the good practice that has been recognised in Wiltshire and elsewhere in the country, as well as taking the lessons from events & circumstances which we may not have experienced in our police area, or region.
“Accountability of the PCC is key for this public position to work and I am pleased to see that the proposed changes in part one of this review will ensure all PCCs remain accountable to the communities we serve as democratically-elected local leaders working with local police forces in the fight against crime and in protecting the public.”
