Wiltshire’s Police and Commissioner has welcomed the delivery of the latest roadside breathalysers to Wiltshire Police.
Additional funding of £40,000 was secured from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) to secure the devices which have been used on the county’s roads since the middle of September.
The devices are being rolled out to police vehicles across the Force. The Medacx devices are designed by representatives from four police forces in the UK and Germany, with the safety of officers in mind too.
PCC Philip Wilkinson said: “It is vital that increased investment in the right equipment is made to ensure Wiltshire’s police officers have all the tools they need to provide a quality, efficient, police service to the county’s residents. Safer roads and drivers means a safer Wiltshire.”
PC James Barrett, from Wiltshire Police Roads Policing Unit (RPU), said: “These new devices will further enhance our ability to target drink drivers and ultimately keep our road network as safe as possible, which is what we are committed to doing.”
