The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), on behalf of Wiltshire Police, has secured a six-acre site off Mitre Way, Old Sarum, near Salisbury, for the development of a new Southern Policing Hub - a major investment in the future of policing for south Wiltshire.
This purpose-built facility will become the long-term base for neighbourhood, response and frontline teams, in addition to other operational teams. It will enable Wiltshire Police to deliver a more visible, responsive, and modern police service for the communities of Salisbury and the wider south Wiltshire area.

In 2021, a comprehensive review of Wiltshire Police’s operational estate identified the need for improved facilities to support frontline policing. The closure of Salisbury’s former Wilton Road police station in 2014 left the city without a fully operational policing base.
The Safer South Wiltshire programme was launched to find a permanent, fit-for-purpose solution.

The purchase of this land is a significant milestone and follows detailed site feasibility work, public engagement and negotiations led by the OPCC.

These will take place in June in Old Sarum where residents will be able to view illustrative ideas about the site, ask questions and provide feedback ahead of the outline planning submission.
